Kid Sport TM
KidSport™ Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300 per year per child for sport registration and/or equipment. Applications are accepted six times per calendar year; Deadlines are January 1st, March 1st, May 1st, July 1st, September 1st and November 1st. Applicants must be age 18 or under.
Jumpstart Canadian Tire
Applications for assistance can be submitted from January 15 to June 1 for spring/summer programs, and from July 1 to November 1 for fall/winter programs. Call 1-877-616-6600. Based on your postal code, a Call Centre representative will provide a contact on the closest Canadian Tire Jumpstart Chapter.

Black Youth Ice Hockey Initiative
A program offered to by Hockey Nova Scotia in partnership with Black Ice Hockey and Sports Hall of Fame Society, Sport Nova Soctia (Support 4 Sport) and Dalhousie University Men's Hockey Team. The initiative is open to 30 African Nova Scotian boys and girls aged 5-10 who live in HRM. The session runs for a 18 week duration and is free of charge. For more information chick here.
Amateur Sport & Fine Art Awards
Each year, the NSGEU Social/Recreation Committee may issue up to 15 Amateur Sports Awards (of which up to three may be Fine Arts Awards) of $300 each to members, or children of members, who are amateur athletes or artists. These awards help defray the costs of participation in or training for sports or art.
