The Nova Scotia Talent Trust (NSTT) is a not-for-profit registered charity that provides scholarships to Nova Scotians who demonstrate exceptional potential and commitment to become established artists in their chosen fields. Special Awards
Each year’s NSTT scholarship recipients will be considered for twelve Special Awards. Special Awards are issued at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee and are provided in addition to scholarship amounts. No other application requirements are necessary.
Listed below are the awards and the amounts.
(1) The Lieutenant Governor’s Award ($1,500 award)
(2) The Charlotte Wilson Hammond/Visual Arts Nova Scotia Award ($1,000 award)
(3) The Chico Berardi Award ($1,000 award)
(4) The Kenneth Elloway Award ($750 award)
(5) The Janice Merritt Flemming Award ($500 award)
(6) The Pat Richards Award ($1,000)
(7) The Portia White Award ($1,500)
(8) The Raymond Simpson Award ($1,000)
(9) The Shelagh Mackenzie Award ($1,000)
(10) The Theatre Nova Scotia Award ($1,000)
(11) The Robert George Jackson Award ($1,100)
(12) The Maritime Association of Teachers of Singing (MATS) Award ($1,200)

- applicant must be an African Nova Scotian (Black) student
- applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis in the first or second year of a recognized university degree program (i.e. Bachelor of Music)
- have a concentration in one of the performing arts genre, i.e. music, voice, dance, theatrical performances;
- have demonstrated qualities of performing arts through participation in student activities and community affairs
Peter Oliver Memorial Scholarship Fund
This Fund, was established to support the educational pursuits of Shelburne County artists. Oliver is best remembered as a professional and innovative actor and director. Considered a co-founder with his wife Joan and others of British alternative and fringe theatre, he turned a youth club into London’s Oval House Theatre, one of London’s most exciting experimental arts centres. Peter led a generation of actors, writers, directors and musicians who went on to become household names like Salman Rushdie, Athol Fugard, David Hare and Pierce Brosnan.

The TD Michaëlle Jean Bursaries
The TD Michaëlle Jean Bursaries were created, through a joint initiative between TD Bank Group and the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, to provide funding for training and access to mentorship for young people aged 18-30, from underserved communities, who are using the arts as a tool to improve the quality of life in their communities. A maximum of 3 bursaries, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 will be awarded each year. For more information, click here.
