University Entrance Scholarship
Value: $4,500

- applicant must be an African Nova Scotian (Black) student
- available to African Nova Scotian (Black) students who have successfully completed Grade 12 in the Nova Scotia school system within the current year
- who have been accepted into, and will attend university in the academic year immediately following Grade 12.
Teacher Education Scholarship
Value: $5,000

- applicant must be an African Nova Scotian (Black) student
- applicant must be accepted into a B.Ed program
- demonstrate continued scholastic achievement (attach an official academic transcript - internet copies are not acceptable)
- first year students must submit a typed essay (300 words) describing past involvement with, and vision for future development of the African Nova Scotian community
- must not possess a professional degree
- be willing to participate in school to work transition follow-up surveys
- attach two letters of reference (see application form ), one reference from a university professor and one character reference (non-relative)
Science Profession Scholarship
Value: $7,000

- Priority will be given to the following programs: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Engineering
- applicant must be an African Nova Scotian (Black) student
- be accepted or registered as a full-time student in one of the prescribed university programs.

First Nations & Indigenous Black Students Scholarship

- Ten renewable entrance scholarships valued at $3,000 each are available to First Nations and Indigenous Black students, who are residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island, and are entering Dalhousie for the first time.
- Scholarships are available to students who are applying directly from high school as well as those who have attended another post-secondary institution.
- Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of a student's financial need and academic standing.

- Available to African Canadian and Canadian Aboriginal students enrolled in three or four year undergraduate degree programs in Journalism, Arts or Science at King's

Bob Taylor Memorial Student Scholarship -Culinary Arts Student Application
This scholarship is available to Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals (CAFP) student members and Culinary Arts students in NS.The applicant must be a member of a Nova Scotia CAFP Student Branch. Applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of one year in the program.
This Fund provides financial support to students who are a member of the MSVU or St. FX student branches of the Canadian Association of Food-service Professionals or the Jr. Chef's Association and demonstrate Bob’s dedication and interest in the food-service industry. This Fund honours Buddy Daye, an accomplished athlete and respected community member who fought passionately for community and minority rights, especially on behalf of African Nova Scotians. It provides scholarships to local youth who aspire for more in their lives. For more information click here.
Burns Lodge Legacy Scholarship Fund
This Fund, established in honour of the late Robbie Burns, provides scholarships to residents of HRM pursuing post-secondary studies in Atlantic Canada on the basis of their scholastic achievement, community involvement, athletic accomplishments and financial need. For more information click here.
Donald Lee Eagles Memorial Scholarship Fund
This Fund, established in honour of Donald Lee Eagles, provides financial support to students undertaking full-time studies in the Business Administration program at the Kingstec campus of the Nova Scotia Community College campus. For more information click here.

This Fund, established by Mrs. Ethel (Grant) Eagles and her family, provides financial support to students undertaking full-time studies in the Nursing program at Cape Breton University. For more information click here.
Member’s Dependent Scholarships
Once a year, the union offers 10 dependent scholarship awards: one $2,500 scholarship, four $1,500 scholarships, and five $1,000 scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement at the discretion of the NSGEU Education Committee.
